Orange County Virtual School offers full-time enrollment options for students in grades K-12. Full-time OCVS students are registered as
public school students, and are required to participate in state and district testing. A full time student can earn a State of Florida high school diploma with OCVS.
In order to be accepted as a full-time student with Orange County Virtual School for the 2026-2027 school year, students must meet the following criteria:
Grades K-5 criteria:
- Reside in the state of Florida
- Children who are five years old on or before September 1, 2026 are eligible to start kindergarten in August 2026.
- To enter first grade, a child must be six years old on or before September 1 and must have successfully completed kindergarten (Florida Statute 1003.21).
- Have demonstrated success in the previous 2 years of school.
- State/District testing scores such as the FAST, FAIR, and other assessments from the last two school years if available. If student is entering Kindergarten, no test scores required.
Grades 6-12 criteria:
- Reside in the state of Florida
- Have demonstrated success in the previous semester courses (A's, B's, C's) For high school, be on track for credits based upon 9th grade cohort year.
- Have attained grade level proficiency on at least one of the following standardized test in the last two school years:
- Florida Assessment of Student Thinking Reading (FAST) (level 3 or higher)
- Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking Math (BEST) (level 3 or higher)
- End of Course Exams (EOC) that student has already taken
- PSAT NMSQT (470 Reading and Writing, 430 Math)
- SAT Test (490 Reading/Writing tests, 420 Math test)
- ACT Test (18 average Reading/English, 16 Math)
- CLT Test (39 Reading/English, 14 Math)
- Grade level proficiency on an official standardized test administered by another public school system
Students currently enrolled in an OCPS school: Parents or Guardians only have to submit the online application. Students’ academic history and testing information is already in the data base for review. However, you will be contacted if additional information is needed.
Students currently enrolled in a Non-OCPS school: Parents or Guardians must submit students’ academic records (transcripts or report cards), any and all standardized test scores for review. Within a week of submission date please submit via email to ocvs@ocps.net. In the subject line put OCVS Application, the student’s full name and student ID number and grade. example: OCVS Application Documents John Smith 480xxxxxxx Grade 11. You will be contacted if additional information is needed.
All students with special needs that currently have an Individual Educational Plan (IEP), or 504 Plan with accommodations must submit copies via email to ocvs@ocps.net within a week of application submission date. In the subject line put OCVS Application, the student’s full name and student ID number and grade. example: OCVS Application Documents John Smith 480xxxxxxx Grade 11.
* Submitting an application does not guarantee enrollment to the Orange County Virtual School. Students must meet criteria for full-time enrollment in order to be accepted.
In order to proceed, please read the following statements.
- To the best of my knowledge, my child meets the criteria to become a full-time student in Orange County Virtual School.
- I understand my child will participate in the state and district assessments including but not limited to FAST, BEST, EOC and other required standardized assessments administered by Orange County Virtual School.
- I understand my child will attend the mandatory orientation for acceptance to OCVS full time.
